chelsea & rotherhithe
Adjoining the Chelsea green conservation area, selective demolition reduced densities and enabled much needed amenity space to form part of the refurbishment of 650 units and the conversion of two blocks into a linked sheltered housing scheme. The phased project involved both decanting and working with residents in place.
In Rotherhithe, Hunters were lead designers and technical advisers for the complete refurbishment of the Edwardian estate. The internal layout of eight three-storey blocks was completely redesigned to accommodate higher levels of thermal and sound insulation combined with energy saving and secured by design measures.
Our work in Rotherhithe won the George Plunkett Ward for Excellence in Renovation and Regeneration from the National Home Improvement Council.
It was also a finalist at the 2008 Inside Housing Sustainability Awards in Sustainable Social Housing Refurbishment Project of the Year
