Brightening up Evenlode

Hunters’ architectural team is about to complete a £6million refurbishment of Maidenhead’s Evenlode estate in Berkshire.

This tired 1960s estate had generous grounds which were underutilised by residents with large homes and awkward access.

Together with Hemingway Design, we engaged with the public, consulting with them to find a ‘creative refurbishment’ of the buildings and outside spaces. The client, Housing Solutions, were convinced that the practical design solutions could transform Evenlode.

These solutions included major landscaping and external ground works, introduction of private gardens, contemporary new build in-fill and new facades and entrances resembling a row of colourful town houses.

A tactile and cohesive design solution has been created, enabling space to be used, new homes to be provided and improved living conditions for all.
