Cambridge Street Shortlisted

Our work redesigning a 41-bed sheltered accommodation in Pimlico has been shortlisted for this year’s Green Apple Awards for environmental best practice.

The redesign of Cambridge Street was aimed at reducing carbon emissions by 49% and energy consumption by 52% - without compromising on the external beauty of the buildings in a conservation area.

The scheme has achieved an EcoHomes ‘Very Good’ certification from BRE. It has provided family housing in central London, and restored a Georgian street frontage within a conservation area. This former sheltered housing scheme has been given an energy efficient conversion with renewable energy solutions. It also has private gardens and balconies as amenity space for residents.

The success of the scheme has led to other refurbishment and new build developments with the same project team and it was shortlisted for an AJ Retrofit Award 2012 in the small housing category.

The award will be judged in the week of April 22nd, 2013.

Hunters provided employer's agent and cost consultancy services from inception to completion, and architectural services to planning.
