It's in the Aura

The architectural team has won planning permission for a five-storey residential scheme on Balham Hill in south London.

Hunters were commissioned by Viridian Housing and Higgins Construction to develop Viridian's former office block (Aura House) and the adjacent petrol station site into housing and retail.

The design evolved through consultation with the London Borough of Wandsworth, local residents, businesses and local community groups. The result is 52 flats that integrate within the local environment and include sustainable features like a living roof to encourage biodiversity.

Importantly, the design compliments the rhythm of the streetscene opposite - a feature the planners were keen for Hunters to implement.

Architect Paul Stephens said how pleased he was that the scheme had been granted planning, commenting: "It’s been in the pipeline since 2009 but we’ve ended up with a scheme everyone’s happy with – from the contractor Higgins to the planner."
