Durford Road Receives Planning

Hunters and Brackley Investments has received planning consent for a 70-bedroom specialist care home situated in the heart of the South Downs National Park (SDNP), in Petersfield, Hampshire.

SDNP were consulted at the earliest stages of the scheme so they could have their say on the proposals and a T-Shape plan was formed. The 2.5 storey build is designed to reflect local building characteristics and materials to maintain the important National Parking setting.  The care home carefully balances a complex set of site constraints, including a wet woodland area, veteran trees and site level changes, providing an exceptional landscape-led design.

The design respects and preserves the environmental context of the site but creates a home which includes features such as progressive privacy and access, private amenity & landscaping, and the need for small clusters of bedrooms within a household living design concept. The retention of trees along boundary-lines screens the proposed development from Penns Place and the new Assisted Living Community development to the south.

The previously developed land has remained vacant for years and our proposal for Durford Road provides much-needed specialist CQC-registered care for older people.
