Hunters’ Multi-disciplinary Team Upgrades St Thomas’ Radiology Theatre
Hunters’ multi-disciplinary team of Architects, Engineers and Principal Designers have collaborated to deliver a state-of-the-art upgrade to St Thomas’ Interventional Radiology Theatre 15. The project combines advanced imaging technology with the refurbishment of key supporting spaces, including the preparation room, anaesthetics room, control room and technical room. Following Gateway 2 approval, works are now set to commence on site.

The installation of a new, modern imaging system will significantly enhance clinical capability, enabling more advanced procedures and improving outcomes for patients. Through intelligent space planning and carefully considered design, the refurbishment will also create a more efficient, comfortable and seamless experience for both staff and patients.
A major element of the scheme is the introduction of a new Air Handling Unit (AHU), designed to meet the Trust’s requirements for compliant air change rates within the interventional radiology theatre. This upgrade will enhance infection control, environmental comfort and patient safety. The AHU will be installed at roof level on the south side of the Lambeth Wing, sensitively integrated within the hospital’s existing infrastructure. This project forms part of a wider programme of healthcare refurbishments currently being delivered by Hunters’ healthcare team in partnership with the Trust.
