NEW Video – Bringing light in, how Hunters tackled Chelsea and Westminster Hospital’s natural daylight dilemmas.
As part of the ongoing refurbishment that Hunters are designing for Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, Hunters worked closely with CW+ Charity whose aim is to bring art to healthcare environments to improve wellbeing. This collaboration developed a natural palette of colours and designs ensuring a light, soothing and uplifting environment in the new Day Surgery Unit.
Through a series of in-depth reviews, Hunters technical team ensured that the original spatial limits of the floor plan were redesigned to increase space efficiency and functionality to increase the number of patients seen. It features three types of patient ‘cabins’ for privacy and recovery, a new ward, staff rest areas, waiting areas and two operating theatres.
Clever back lit ceiling and wall murals coupled with leaf and flower decals brings a sense of the outside into what was originally a dark space.
Hunters are incredibly proud to have worked on this project, and to be able to provide both patients and staff with a much more relaxed and comfortable experience at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital.
