Planning for Specialist Care Home Adjacent to Ancient London Woods

Our Later Living team has achieved planning for a new 120 bed care home on a former hotel site nestled in Epping Forest. With a nod to the 1970’s, it reinterprets this decade with contemporary interiors and state of the art facilities. The design layout focuses on encouraging social interaction of residents to help combat loneliness. This is a large scheme providing much needed care for the area, predications are that by 2029 this will increase by 84%.

Built around landscaped gardens , Oak Hill is an inclusive design focussing on end-of-life care and dementia support. It houses a range of stimulating leisure facilities for the residents.

James Wallace, Director commented “This is an exceptional place to live with natural surroundings and still situated within London. Our design was carefully created to ensure the interiors enabled social cohesion between residents whilst large glazing has built a relationship with the outside wooded area”

Principles of the design included:

  • Attractive landscaped spaces
  • Design to give a sense of place and character
  • Exceptional resident communal areas for visitors and other areas for the wider community
  • Retention of trees and exceptional vegetation
  • A strategy where the building blends with its landscape

Our client is the Care Concern Group and the home is within the London Borough of Waltham Forest.
