Christ Church
Christ Church is a luxury extra care home with 62 apartments on Epsom Road in Leatherhead, designed by Hunters for Birchgrove.
Land was secured for development by Levanter on behalf of Birchgrove. The new development creates a positive choice when residents living at their former homes is no longer viable.
Three contemporary apartment buildings form a supportive and socially active environment for residents, but value the reassurance of tailored care when needed.

Hunters worked closely with residents and stakeholders to ensure the development would sit confidently in its context – both physically and socially.

Facilities include a restaurant, lounge, gym, and different break out spaces designed to accommodate residents needs. Generous gardens to the north and south offer outdoor space and includes a multi-use activity green, while a calm internal courtyard creates opportunities for quiet reflection and community engagement.

Every detail in the scheme is considered with accessibility needs – lighting, colour contrast, shadow, acoustics, and facilities that all work to ensure residents can move through the space with ease and confidence.
Christ Church follows dementia-inclusive design principles and integrates smart Ai technology to help residents stay well, safe, and independent for longer.
Sustainability is at the heart of the design, with energy-efficient building fabric and enhanced biodiversity through 60 new trees and wildlife habitats. Excellent transport links and local amenities are on the doorstep.
This is one of several extra care schemes by Hunters for Birchgrove and is located in Surrey.
Kori Construction were the contractors.
