Hillingdon
Housing and Libraries
Hunters worked with Hillingdon on several sites to create more affordable housing and community facilities for the area. On the back of our revitalisation of the Civic Centre, we have designed the following sites:
Otterfield Road – With a new library and housing.
Falling Lane – Originally a library with the plan of creating new homes.
and
Northwood Hills – Plans to redevelop the existing library site to a new library with homes.
Partly funded by Section106, Hillingdon Council are behind these transformative developments which include two new libraries, a community hub, and 104 homes, with 95 designated as affordable – an essential addition to the area. Alongside the new developments are recreational park upgrades and public realm improvements.

About the schemes
Otterfield Road and Falling Lane (both above) are financially linked, creating 95 new homes across two sites. On the Otterfield Road site a new library and additional community space with retractable bookcases to create more flexible spaces are planned.
The 3.5-storey Northwood Hills community library seamlessly blends nine modern apartments and a wraparound garden. Built with elegant buff-stone brick, it features a children’s play area, meeting rooms, a vast book collection, dementia-friendly games, and advanced laptop charging. Extensive community consultation, including input from the nearby school, ensured the library’s design and facilities meet local needs and aspirations.

These three projects are in the London Borough of Hillingdon.
