St. John's Wood

Lodge Road

Lodge Road, a luxury care home in St. John’s Wood, North London, provides 121 bedrooms alongside twelve private apartments including three duplexes. The project has been designed for the Care Concern Group and Amazon Property.

The design of the project embraces modern ‘household’ principles inspired by the University of Stirling Dementia Toolkit, ensuring the space supports comfort, functionality, and inclusivity for residents with diverse needs.

The façade colour palettes compliment adjacent buildings, with elite materials characterised in the local area of bronze and a lighter brick found in both residential and commercial properties of the area.

The ‘Household’ principles features small communities of 8-10 residents. Each includes bedrooms, a lounge, dining area, and access to balconies or roof terraces. The ground floor serves as a vibrant hub with a café, lounge, hair salon, cinema, spa, fine dining area, and courtyard garden.

The interiors, designed by Devon Interiors, feature high-quality finishes including wood panelling and stone, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere.

Hunters removed one of the basement levels and a vehicle ramp has made space for a communal terrace and reduced the amount of embodied carbon in the build. The building stands ten floors in height, so attention has been paid to fire safety and evacuation to ensure new standards are met.

The site is easily accessible via public transport, including bus routes and nearby tube stations. Located in the affluent St John’s Wood area, the care home’s main entrance is on Lodge Road, while the residential apartments have separate access, on Oak Tree Road.
