Oaklands House

Situated in Old Oak Common, it is the first phase of a much larger masterplan of 1.8 hectares.

Oaklands House, Old Oak Common

We acted as Principal Designers on this landmark project, exploring different technologically advanced building treatments to manage future maintenance budgets.

We provided the engagement, with both the contractor and employer, to evaluate how to reduce maintenance costs of the finished building through better use of material technologies.

We did this by investigating a window strategy that would not have to install hoists to the finished building but instead using an abseiling solution and also to research the possibility of self-cleaning glazing.

Oaklands House involves a new site access road, linking the existing road and Old Oak Common Lane. Major landscaping and public realm works are part of the overall vision.

The procurement route for the project was JCT Design & Build 2011.
