The street scene is back. Our architects were inspired by more traditional street layouts and looks, creating over 100 new homes in two phases, a mix of flats, houses and duplexes. The scheme is located in the East of London.

A small-scale voluntary transfer and regeneration project doubled the number of homes with 53 one, two and three-bedroom flats and duplexes in the first phase and 97 apartments, duplexes and house in the second.

Most existing residents were re-housed in the new homes which are situated on the edge of the Green Belt and area of special ecological interest.

The design of the scheme was complex due to the site’s location and restricted highway access with the need to retain all existing residents in place whilst building works were carried out. The proposals are low-rise, with a considered massing strategy that respects the site’s suburban context.

Hunters assisted Swan in the stock transfer, scheme design, tender documentation, successful planning and construction details. One long term resident commented:

“I’m delighted with my new home, it is so much better than my old one. It is a real breath of fresh air and like a palace – I love it!”

“We are delighted that residents are so happy with their new homes, the scheme will offer many more quality homes for local people.”

Sandra Fawcett, Swan Housing Association Executive Director of Operations

“This development will provide almost 100 much needed new homes in the Borough, which is a priority for us and key to building a sustainable future for Redbridge.”
