Gallions

Gallions Quarter, located between the Royal Docks and the River Thames, East London, is a key part of the wider Royal Albert Wharf regeneration in the London Borough of Newham.

As Joint Venture Advisors, our team are overseeing all three phases of Gallions Quarter which involves the £200m redevelopment of three large sites near Beckton as part of a wider comprehensive development programme of 800 new homes, new public realm improvements including a public square with recreation areas, shops and cafes. The development is a stones throw away from the Docklands Light Railway station, ensuring connectivity to Central London and the East.

40% of the homes are affordable with 30% family homes, a new local centre, a food store and two new public parks. In addition, significant public realm improvements were proposed for the area adjacent to the DLR station enabling 900 cycle spaces.

The History

Acting as Joint Venture Supervisors, we negotiated with Dockland Light Railway (DLR) who originally owned a proportion of the site and identified a number of risk factors with the range of services running across the site.  We engaged with the GLA to ensure their needs could be accommodated by the planners and business plan as well as a the coordination of an energy centre pipeline through each phase.

As both Joint Venture Advisors and Employer’s Agents on the affordable homes, Hunters are leading on a range of Building Consultancy services including all aspects of commercial management.
