A New 81-Bed Care Home Designed for Compassionate and Specialist Care in Hurlingham
Hunters has designed a new 81-bed residential care home situated near Putney Bridge, nestled within the esteemed Hurlingham Conservation area.
Located within London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, the site remained vacant for several years. It posed unique challenges due to its triangular shape and proximity to the above-ground district line viaduct, which was carefully considered to minimise noise disturbances.
This specialised building was tailored to provide end-of-life, and high-dependency care for residents, including those living with dementia. Every aspect of the design ensures a comfortable and supportive environment for all.

4–10 bedrooms per residential cluster
Two bedrooms per floor with a dedicated care team
This project focuses on designing housing clusters featuring 4-10 bedrooms, where residents can share facilities like kitchens and living spaces. Each floor accommodates two bedrooms with their dedicated care team. At the heart of the home, residents will find a cinema, sensory room, activity area, and other essential services.
Preserving the charm of the building, we’ve retained its attractive and listed façade, integrated it into the design as an external wall and gate. Our goal was to meet the rigorous standards of dementia design, striving for the prestigious Stirling Gold Standard, a feature Hunters has achieved in many care homes.
By creating this care home, Hunters aimed to enable local residents to remain in their community while receiving the social and support network care they needed. Our client for this project was the Care Concern Group with Knight Frank acting as property consultants.
