Our expertise

Hunters have extensive experience in the later living and care sector, combining award-winning architectural design with a detailed understanding of the operational, planning and commercial requirements of these specialist environments. Our work has received multiple design awards, including Gold Awards from Stirling University’s Dementia Services Development Centre (DSDC), recognising our commitment to high-quality, dementia-inclusive design.

We create carefully considered environments that respond to the needs of residents, visitors, care providers and operators, while supporting our clients’ wider objectives.

Alongside our architectural services, Hunters provides building consultancy, civil and structural engineering and employer’s agent expertise, offering clients clear and structured project delivery, technical oversight and proactive risk management.

Residential care homes

People living with complex health conditions deserve care environments that are as exceptional as the care they receive, places that feel personal, dignified and genuinely homely, while technically meeting CQCs demanding environment and operational requirements. Our integrated architecture, building consultancy and engineering expertise creates specialist residential settings that support complex care, enable safe and comfortable movement, provide appropriate clinical infrastructure, and give residents, families and care teams confidence in the environment.

Specialist dementia care

For people living with dementia, the environment can play a vital role in supporting wellbeing, confidence and independence. Our dementia-focused design approach implements dementia friendly technical design within domestic environments that provides visual access, natural light, sensory cues, calming spaces and carefully considered material choices to create environments that feel reassuring rather than institutions. Our projects have been recognised with Stirling Gold Design awards, reflecting our commitment to creating outstanding places that combine thoughtful design with meaningful benefits for residents.

Hunters have designed four buildings for us, each transforming a complicated, constrained site into somewhere people will be proud to call home. They bring intelligence, imagination and a real sense of joy to every project.
