Hunter’s Later Living Architecture Team has completed the revival of Banstead Place, a Grade II listed Georgian manor house located in Surrey. This montage of aerial drone footage showcases the scale and arrangement of the new apartments around the manor house, and within its historic conservated grounds.
The schemes design and response was centred around the previously existing features of the estate, including the manor house, former stables, historic garden walls, orchard, arboretum and surviving ha-ha ditch.
The 54 new apartments were arranged framing the green in front of the manor house and adopting an L-shaped form within the former kitchen garden, and taking on an almshouse-inspired design. This provided residents with their own front doors, private gardens and access to a first-floor communal deck, encouraging neighbourly interaction while carefully balancing privacy, accessibility and opportunities to connect with nature.
