James Wallace
Director

James is a Main Board Director at Hunters, where he leads the practice’s Planning Team that includes large scale regeneration housing schemes, later living, civic, community and leisure teams. He has built a highly experienced and creative team specialising in the design and delivery of industry-leading buildings that respond to the diverse communities that we live in.

With a particular specialism in the senior housing sector, James works with both private and public sector clients, and has extensive experience across residential and nursing care, dementia care, assisted living, and extra care housing, as well as private rent, social housing, shared ownership, and state-supported accommodation. His expertise in dementia design evolved working closely with the University of Stirling’s Dementia Services Development Centre to create environments that promote wellbeing, dignity, and independence.

A graduate of Cardiff University’s School of Architecture, James joined Hunters over 30 years ago. Throughout his career, he has championed sustainable development, partnering with clients and communities to secure planning approvals that respect social, economic, and urban environments.
